Reports of extreme flooding in Ballater saw a huge operation mounted by emergency services to rescue townsfolk from flood waters. The River Dee burst its banks on February 30 and the town became completely flooded. VIDEO: Watch caravan floating down the River Dee Roads in and out of the Royal Deeside resort town were closed and impassable. Coatsguard Helicopters, dozens of fire-fighters, police, ambulance crews and mountain rescue were all  engaged in the rescue effort.
