Temporary road for north-east village cut off from world by floods

A temporary road is to be put in place to help with access to and from Braemar following flooding damage in Deeside.
Villagers have been left isolated, with a huge part of A93 near Crathie washed away by the flood waters, preventing access from Ballater.

It is hoped that the temporary road will be in place within the next week.
Aberdeenshire Council chief executive Jim Savage said repairs to Invercauld Bridge, expected to be finished within the next fortnight, would also help ease problems.
Meanwhile, today Scotland’s flood forecasting service has said river levels were generally falling and the risk of more floods was “reducing”.
However the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) said disruption was likely to continue on the roads.
