The Met Office is warning the public and emergency services of severe or hazardous weather which has the potential “to cause danger to life or widespread disruption. ”
Further heavy and prolonged rain is expected today across much of eastern Scotland.
Given the earlier exceptionally wet weather, with high river levels and saturated ground, the weather forecaster says people should be prepared for further surface water and river flooding, as well as disruption to transport.
The Met Office Chief Forecaster said: “An active frontal system is expected to move northeastwards into Scotland on Thursday and become slow-moving.
“Additional rainfall totals of 30-50 mm are expected quite widely with over 60 mm on high ground, while it will continue to fall as snow on the hills.
“There remains some uncertainty over the clearance time of the rain, so please watch out for further updates to the warning as new information becomes available.
“The warning should be viewed in the context of the wider yellow warning.”
