A number of schools have closed or are closing early or have had transport changes.
Aboyne Academy – School Closed to Everyone 12 noon.
Road conditions have now deteriorated around Aboyne and therefore the Academy will close at 1pm to allow staff and pupils to get home safely. Remaining school buses will leave the school at 1pm 11am Due to deteriorating road conditions Ballater and Braemar pupils are returning home. Road to Ballater is open. Temporary transport arrangements The following arrangements have been put in place to accommodate affected pupils who reside in Braemar and between Ballater and Braemar: A Stagecoach Bluebird vehicle will operate from Braemar, at the existing times, and carry all entitled pupils to Invercauld. Pupils will be required to walk across the old Bridge of Dee. There are a number of flood lights and they will be escorted across by the Driver (a Council employee). Parents/carers need to be aware that the path across the bridge is muddy and pupils should have appropriate footwear, etc. At the other side of the bridge a further Stagecoach vehicle will be waiting to transport them to Aboyne Academy (via the B976 to Ballater). The reverse arrangements will apply in the afternoon (pupils will need to ensure they board the correct bus). The four pupils who reside between Invercauld and Crathie will picked up by the Stagecoach bus. The two entitled pupils who reside between Crathie and Ballater will be transported from their home to/from Aboyne Academy by taxi. )

Alford Academy – School Closed to Pupils Only
Due to deteriorating road conditions, Alford Academy will close to all pupils at 1:30 pm. School lunch is available through to 1:30 pm. Transport pupils – remaining buses are to collect pupils between 1:00 and 1:20 pm. Village pupils to make own way home as normal at lunchtime. Pupils transported to school by parents: could all parents please come to Alford Academy Reception asap to collect pupils. Alford Primary School – School Closed to Everyone
Due to road conditions Alford Primary School will be closing this afternoon. School transport will take pupils home at 1.30pm. Could parents please collect village children form the playground from 1.20pm.

Changes to School Transport Routes (Update as at 12:41 Banchory Primary School and Nursery remains open, however-families affected by the adverse weather in Strachan and Aboyne have been contacted.Parents of transported pupils are welcome to come and collect their children, should they be able to do so. The school office staff are in the process of contacting the transport providers to arrange an early pick-up for all transported pupils, where possible. Please leave the school lines open for the staff to be able to phone those families affected. Otherwise, the school does remain open to all other pupils and staff.)

Parents of pupils using this contract are asked by the contract provider to collect their child/ren at Drumlithie. The bus cannot go beyond this point. )

Midmar School
Partial Closure for Pupils (School buses (Premier Coaches and Aberdeenshire) will leave school early today, Thursday 7 January – at 2.45pm. The school will remain open for other pupils until 3.15pm. Parents who transport their children are welcome to pick up their children before 3.15pm if they wish to do so. )
Monymusk School
