As the River Don reaches its highest level on record, Aberdeen residents have been encouraged to consider evacuating their homes tonight.
Aberdeen City Council has issued the warning to residents in the Donside area of the city as the river is expected to burst its banks later tonight.
Earlier this evening SEPA confirmed that the river has reached its highest ever level, however, the river is expected to peak around midnight tonight.

Council officials have advised those living in lower residential areas close to the River Don, and in particular the Grandholm area, to seriously consider evacuating their homes as water levels continue to rise across the city.
Residents are advised to seek shelter with friends and family where they can, or alternatively, a respite centre has been set up at the Bridge of Don Academy.

A number of areas across the city have already been hit by flooding, as shown in the video below, filmed this afternoon, when people had to be saved by a small boat from a bus that was stranded in floods on Cove’s Stoneywood Road.
