PICTURES: Highland league game called off after pitch completely floods

After the river Deveron burst its banks there has been significant flooding around the sports pitches and Turriff United’s ground.

As a result the Turriff United v Buckie Thistle match scheduled for tomorrow 09/01/2015 has been postponed.

The Haughs is almost entirely under water.

The rising flood water knocked over wall and gates at the end of the car park during the night.

Reports suggest that a collapsing wall damaged the gas meter for the ground and there is currently what is classed as a medium pressure gas leak.

Members of the public are currently being kept away from the area, and there is a strong smell of gas around Castle St and the Auld Kirk.
