Residents of Huntly have been praised for pulling together as more than 2ft of rain battered the area in just 24 hours.
The River Deveron burst its banks on Thursday after the heavy rainfall, with 18 residents from the Meadows Care Home being evacuated.
They were taken to the Linden Community Education Centre, where a resting place had been set up, but were able to return home quickly as the threat subsided.
Elsewhere in the town, residents were issued with sand bags and flood barriers going up.
Councillor Gwyneth Petrie said it was great to see everyone in the community helping each other out.
She added: “The residents really did pull together and the old folks’ home put out a plea for help with sandbags and a lot of people responded.
“A rest centre was set up and when I visited it was well organised although I don’t believe anyone had to use it.”
She added the weather was still being monitored and that flood protection measures would be available.
She added: “Aberdeenshire Council have done a great job so far and I don’t think there was any significant flooding near the properties.
