Proposals to expand a tiny north-east village with 21 new homes were unanimously agreed by councillors yesterday.
Architecture firm Archial Norr has applied to build the properties in Hatton, but faced opposition from residents concerned about an increase in traffic.
Aberdeenshire Council planners urged the Buchan area committee to back the scheme and now a deal has been struck to implement a one-way street system.
In a report to councillors, infrastructure boss, Stephen Archer, said: “It is considered that the proposal will contribute to the area.”
However, following a debate at Peterhead’s Buchan House in December, councillors deferred a decision to give them time to visit the area.
Yet, following that short delay, members of the committee unanimously backed the pla.
Councillor Stephen Smith said: “The site visit was helpful sorting out issues. This isn’t a matter of planning for the houses – it’s been in the local development plan for some years – it’s just there are delegated issues which must be agreed.”
