A Fraserburgh butcher’s shop has won the “Football Pie of the Year” category at the World Scotch Pie Championships on Wednesday.
Bruce of the Broch, who supplies pies for Highland League side Fraserburgh, faced strong competition at the event in Cumbernauld, which featured more than 500 entrants, including slices of the upper crust from the SPFL to Junior clubs.
However, after the judges, who included the former Dunfermline FC manager, Jim Leishman, tasted all the different pies, they adjudged the Bruce of the Broch offering to be the “Overall Winner” in this hotly-disputed category.
The winner of the “World Scotch Pie” title was the Kandy Bar in Saltcoats.
