Three care homes in Aberdeen have started to make use of technology to boost the experience of their residents.
People staying in Laurels Lodge, Banks O’Dee and Maryfield East can use iPads with a special touch screen to let staff know what they think about any aspect of care.
The feedback goes through a software system and gets through to the managers within a couple of minutes.
The trio homes are run by Four Seasons Health Care, whose managing director in Scotland John Kirk has championed the initiative.
He said: “Being able to understand our residents’ care experience on a day-to-day basis enables us to find and fix any niggles quickly and to do more of what they like, so they feel more at home and enjoy a better quality of life.
“We welcome comments, so we have made it easy to tell us how well we are meeting residents’ care needs or make suggestions, for instance, about menu choices or activities and entertainments.”
