Aberdeen City Council’s finance chief, Willie Young, refused to rule out council tax increases in the future for residents in the Granite City.
Mr Young, the convener of the finance, policy and resources committee, said that he believes a possible increase on council taxation in the city could be necessary.
Mr Young said: “Any proposed increase in council tax is a matter for the council and Aberdeen City Council meets to discuss its budget on February 4.
“Aberdeen City Council is the lowest funded council in Scotland and as such we need to explore all avenues to balance our books.
“The residents of Aberdeen would much rather see Mark McDonald write to John Swinney demanding more cash for Aberdeen rather than write to the leader of the council.
“It is becoming more obvious that Aberdeen is the SNP’s forgotten city as their MSP’s slavishly follow the SNP line rather than stand up for the people they represent by demanding cash parity with other councils.”
