The north-east will waken up to another day of freezing temperatures today, with a yellow warning for ice in place until mid-morning.
Temperatures were expected to fall as low as -10C across Deeside last night, due to clear skies and no cloud.
A yellow warning of ice will remain in place over much of the north-east until 11am this morning.
Forecasters say Aberdeenshire will face the lowest temperatures this morning, while around 2in to 4in of snow could fall on higher ground.
And last night police urged motorists to take care on the roads, after it was revealed more than 100 collisions happened across the north-east since Monday.
Inspector Jon Barron, of the road policing unit, said most of the crashes took place before noon.
He said: “We are investigating each of these incidents. As part of this we do look at the weather.
“We have obviously suffered some catastrophic periods of weather we hope to never see again.
“Because of the sheer scale of incidents we are experiencing we would like to make a plea to prevent any more.”
Today there are expected to be sunny intervals with temperatures rising to around 1C in Moray and across to Aberdeen.
But tonight another yellow warning may appear as the weather is likely to get cold once again.
A spokeswoman for the Met Office said: “Temperatures are expected to drop to -2C in Moray and -3C in Aberdeen city.”
