Temperatures in Scotland are set to soar at the end of the week thanks to tropical, continental air moving in across the country.
The miserable January weather which has been bringing down the mood in communities across the country could end by Friday, with temperatures of around 9C expected for the north-east.
Shetland and Orkney could enjoy temperatures as high as 7C, and those in the Western Isles will be able to bask in glorious 10C weather.
In the highlands, thermometers could reach as high as 8C, and after a morning of rainfall in the morning, sunshine has been forecast to break through later on in the afternoon.
