The man died on the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road, near Colpy. Police say the incident involved two cars. Emergency services were first alerted to the incident at about 5.30pm. The road is closed off, with motorists being diverted down the A920 Oldmeldrum road. A police spokesman said: “We can confirm that we are at a fatal road traffic collision. “Inquiries are at a very early stage and we would appeal for any witnesses to come forward. “The road is expected to remain closed for some time.” A fire service spokeswoman said they had been called to the scene, but were stood down on arrival. Meanwhile, the unclassified Woggle Road – between Westhill and Blackburn – has reopened after an earlier accident.
