A full emergency was declared at Aberdeen International Airport tonight after a charter flight from Shetland encountered engine troubles.
The Eastern Airways Saab 2000 aircraft was en-route to Aberdeen from Scatsta when a cockpit warning for one of the aircraft’s two engines went off.
As a precautionary measure, the captain shut down the affected engine and asked for a priority landing.
The aircraft, with 28 passengers and three crew on board, landed safely in Aberdeen at 7.20pm.
A spokesman for Eastern Airways said: “The captain operating charter flight EZE514 from Scatsta to Aberdeen received a cockpit warning indication en-route to Aberdeen relating to one of the aircraft’s two engines.
“The airport fire service was put on standby but was stood down shortly after the aircraft landed in Aberdeen.
“The aircraft then taxied to its parking stand where passengers disembarked the aircraft as normal via the aircraft steps.
“We have launched an investigation and engineers will be inspecting the aircraft.”
