An Ellon police officer is to go on trial accused of assaulting and abducting a man from an address in Aberdeenshire.
Ian Ivancic appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday and denied assaulting Niall Corbett in Newburgh’s Chapelwell Drive on February 9 last year.
He is accused of pushing Mr Corbett against a police van before repeatedly punching him on the head.
The 44-year-old community beat officer is further accused of abducting his alleged victim by bundling him into the police vehicle and driving off.
The case against Ivancic, whose address was given in court papers as care of professional standards department, Police Scotland, Queen Street, Aberdeen, will call again on June 2 for a continued preliminary hearing. His attendance on that day is excused.
