Police have confirmed that a 43-year-old man has been taken into custody following an armed siege.
Officers carrying weapons were called out to help settle a disturbance at a north-east property earlier this morning.
The disturbance at a flat in Peterhead’s Meethill Place lasted for more than four hours before it was brought to a “swift and safe conclusion”.
A large cordon was set up while police brought the man into custody, who could be seen hanging out of the ground-floor premises and shouting at officers, but a spokesman said the public were not in any danger.
The 43-year-old was taken away at about 1pm.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Following a policing operation in the Meethill Place area of Peterhead earlier today, a 43 year old man has been taken into police custody.”
