The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency has issued Flood Warning’s and Flood Alerts for huge areas of the country this morning.

Argyll and Bute has Flood Warnings (meaning flooding likely) in place for Tarbert Harbour, Lochgair Village Road, Helensburgh A814 , Campbeltown Hall Street & Esplanade.

A SEPA statement said: “Due to a large surge combined with strong south-westerly winds there is a risk of flooding from waves and spray overtopping in exposed coastal areas. The greatest risk is around the time of high water on Monday at 1230 and on Tuesday at 1315 in the Clyde estuary. High water level times are taken from Millport, this may vary slightly at other locations at risk.”

Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire has a Flood Alert in place which is less severe but urges caution.

A SEPA statement said: “A Flood Alert has been issued for Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City.

“Heavy rainfall is expected from morning Tuesday across the southern part of Aberdeenshire, which will lead to a risk of flooding to low lying land and roads from rivers and surface water during the day.

“Peak water levels are likely to occur during the day although will remain high into Wednesday.

“Levels are expected to be much lower than those experienced during the New Year period.

“Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.”

Ayrshire and Arran, Dumfries and Galloway, Dundee and Angus, Tayside and West Central Scotland all have Flood Warnings.
