Union Terrace gardens is currently cordoned off by police after a woman was assaulted in the sunken city centre park.
A police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that an assault took place in the early hours of the morning.
The spokesperson added: “Police Scotland is carrying out enquiries after a report of an assault on a female in Union Terrace Gardens, Aberdeen at around 3am today [Thursday January 28].
“Enquiries are at an early stage and we would ask for anyone who was in the area around the time and saw anything to contact Police on 101.”
Social media users have expressed their concern.
Mark Rollo from Aberdeen said: “Anybody know what’s happened in union terrace gardens? Police have got it taped off !”
The condition of the woman is unknown.
Forensics teams have arrived on the scene to begin their investigation.
