Volunteers at Stonehaven lifeboat crew had to make their first rescue of the year today after a distressed woman was caught stranded as the tide drew in.
Stonehaven RNLI were called by the coastguard to reports of the woman at Strathlethen Bay just south of Stonehaven at around 2.26pm.
When they arrived the found the woman with two police officers around her before they escorted her onto the boat and returned her to Stonehaven harbour.
A spokeswoman for Stonehaven RNLI said: “We were paged by Aberdeen Coastguard to assist a distressed woman.
“The crew were tasked to assist a stranded woman at Strathlethen Bay just south of Stonehaven.
“The Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) and volunteer crew were launched at 14.32 and made their way to the scene. Once on scene the woman and a Police Officer were located and brought back into the boat.
“The casualty was brought back to Stonehaven Harbour to awaiting Paramedics.
“This rescue was attended by our multi-agencies which included Aberdeen Lifeboat, Bond Rescue Helicopter, Police Scotland, Stonehaven Coastguards and Scottish Ambulance Service.
“This rescue was the first one attended by Stonehaven Volunteer Lifeboat Crew this year.”
