A man is due to appear in court today in connection with an alleged armed raid at an Aberdeen shop.
Last month, a raider wearing an Iron Man mask targeted Roslin Stores on the city’s Urquhart road brandishing a knife.
Shopkeeper Sivakumar Thengavelavthem managed to defend his store – by beating the culprit away with a fan.
CCTV footage showed the brave 44-year-old waving the fan above his head, eventually forcing the would-be thief to flee empty handed.
Yesterday, police confirmed a 23-year-old man is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today in relation to the incident, which occurred at around 7.20pm on Tuesday, January 19.
Speaking after the incident Mr Thengavelavthem said it was “business as usual”.
He said: “I have had this store for three years, there have been small things like people nicking a few items but nothing like this before.
“I was alone in the store when it happened.
“He was wearing an Iron Man mask and took out a knife but he left the store without taking anything.
“The police have been round today taking fingerprints but the store is open and running as usual.”
A 19-year-old man is also due to appear in court today in connection with the robbery of a 22-year-old woman.
The alleged incident happened on Mastrick Road yesterday at about 6.45am. The woman was left shaken but uninjured.
