A north-east nurse accused of assaulting a care home resident and hurling jelly babies at her could be struck off.
Clarisa Bartolomo is facing a string of allegations, and will go before the Nursing and Midwifery Council next week.
The charges relate to a three-year period when she was working at Crimond House Care Home, near Fraserburgh, and all relate to the same female resident.
She is accused of placing a banana in the resident’s bed near her genitals and saying: “Here’s your banana to keep you company”.
Allegedly, she also told the resident: “They are there for you if you get lonely through the night.”
In a separate incident, Ms Bartolome is accused of grabbing the same resident by the arm and shaking her.
She is also accused of throwing jelly babies at the woman.
Ms Bartolomo was suspended from her post at the home in September 2013 following an internal investigation.
She will now face a fitness-to-practice hearing before the NMC on Monday.
The Crown Office last night confirmed their own investigation into the allegations was still ongoing.
The home at Crimond is operated by Meallmore, which runs other homes in the north-east including at Ellon, Kemnay, Fraserburgh and Peterhead.
A spokesman for the group last night insisted the security and comfort of those who stay at its homes are a “priority”.
He said: “When this incident arose, the individual in question was suspended from their role with immediate effect.
“Following an internal investigation, she was dismissed from her role in September 2013 and hasn’t worked for the company since.
“We take matters like this seriously and the safety, security and comfort of the residents in all our homes across Scotland is always our top priority.”
