Aberdeenshire animal rescue centre’s charity shop targeted by fraudster

A north-east charity shop raising funds for a local animal rescue sanctuary has been struck by a fraudster using fake bank notes.
The man is said to have bought a £1 item using a fake £20 note at the New Arc Charity Shop in Ellon yesterday.
Police are looking into the claims, having received three complaints from businesses in the local area.
The Auchnagatt animal rescue centre is currently fundraising after being left with a £10,000 bill.
Storm Frank wreaked havoc on a mobile home on their grounds which housed its 39 cats and several aviaries.
Money from the shop also goes to the general upkeep of the centre, which has catered for thousands of injured and abandoned animals throughout the years.
Keith Marley, who runs the New Arc with his wife, Pauline, said: “It is particularly galling. We are fundraising on one side and getting money stolen on the other.”
A police spokesman appealed for further information about the incidents and said nobody had yet been charged.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
