The “best Celtic guitarist in the world” is making his way to a remote Aberdeenshire hamlet for a rural gig this weekend.
Tony McManus will play Gartly Community Hall – otherwise known as the Tin Hut – this Sunday, much to the delight of locals.
Simon Mcphun is the organiser of the Tin Hut Sessions and said it is a huge boost to have someone of the musician’s caliber in the remote venue just south of Huntly.
Canada-based folk musician Mr McManus, originally from Paisley, is regarded as one of the finest players of steel string guitar currently touring.
He will also hold a guitar workshop in the afternoon to share with budding musicians the secrets to his success.
Mr Mcphun added: “It is out first concert of the year. It is the start of the new session. Our first gig is Tony McManus who is often called the world’s best Cletic guitar player.
“It is a bit special. We have been running music at the Tin Hut for 10 years. We have had a lot of musicians from all over the world there, we have had a lot of performers there over the years.
“Tony is such a special guitar player and is really nice, he is not full of himself even though he is brilliant.”
The gig will take place at 7pm and tickets can be bought from Orbs Bookshop on Huntly’s Deveron Street or by calling 01466 720 768 or emailing info@tinhutsessions.co.uk
The workshop will be from 3pm to 5pm and cost £12.
