Aberdeen City Council will be asked to look at allowing people to booze on the streets.
SNP councillor David Cameron will put forward a motion at a meeting of the finance, policy and resources committee next week which will call on the authority to review the bye-law which prohibits drinking in public places.
The motion comes off the back of the council allowing revellers to drink at the Christmas Village on Union Terrace.
If approved, the review will be carried out over six months in conjunction with Police Scotland, NHS Grampian, pubs and clubs, and the public.
