Police Scotland has recruited volunteers at a school in Aberdeen to inform youngsters about the dangers of alcohol, smoking and drug abuse.
The team at Northfield Academy will be working until the Easter holidays and have secured funding from the Choices for Life initiative.
Marc Rayne, a sixth-year pupil, has been a member of the group for just over a year.
He said: “I am really pleased to be involved in a cause to try and help the younger kids in thinking about a healthy lifestyle.”
Andy Barclay, community policing team inspector in Northfield, stressed it was important to get the message across at a young age.
He said: “The Police Scotland youth volunteers at Northfield Academy were keen to apply for funding from Choices for Life to carry out an educational project this term.
“Projects can either be about the dangers of drugs including new psychoactive substances, or alcohol and smoking.
“Figures from the NHS state that around 15,000 young people, aged between 14 and 24, start smoking every year in Scotland.
“With this shocking statistic, the team at Northfield Academy decided to focus on smoking and were delighted their funding application was accepted.”
