The family of a north-east minister who passed away aged 58 have paid tribute to a man who “always thought of others before himself”.
Reverend Stephen Brown, the former minister of Fraserburgh United Reformed Church, passed away suddenly earlier this month.
The Inverness-born man is survived by his wife Jan, and children Cameron and Sheena.
Rev Brown’s family have described the 58-year-old as their “rock” and said he always put others before himself.
The keen musician was born in Inverness and grew up across Scotland, first in Caol near Fort William and then later in Irvine.
Stephen was lucky to survive a serious motorbike collision aged only 17, and his family said that pivotal moment in his life strengthened his Christian fatih.
He studied at the University of St Andrews and then later in Manchester where he met Jan.
Rev Brown served as a minister in various parishes across England including Gatley and Purley.
The Browns moved to Fraserburgh in 2002 where Stephen became known for both conducting weddings and then later performing in the band.
The family moved once more in 2012, this time to Helensburgh where he formed the band Thursday’s Child with a fellow minister.
Rev Brown died on Monday, February 8, one day after the release of Thursday’s Child’s most recent album.
A private cremation service was held last week but a thanksgiving and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday February 27 at Helensburgh United Reformed Church from 2pm. A collection will be held for Save the Children.
