Aberdeen’s Liberal Democrat councillors have hinted their opposition budget will contain commitments to education, infrastructure and roads maintenance.
With the Town House abuzz as rival groups prepare their budgets for the year ahead, the Lib Dems said these services are “vitally important” to the future prosperity of the city.
But group leader Ian Yuill added that “nobody” would be in a position to rule out all cuts to these areas as the council struggles to make millions in cuts and savings.
He said: “Clearly the education of our city’s children is vitally important to our future.
“Equally things like infrastructure, maintaining street lighting and roads are also very important for almost everything in the city.
“We will also be focusing on making the city centre more accessible.”
The group will present their opposition budget at tomorrow’s crunch budget meeting.
