Councillors will have long had tomorrow penned into their diaries as the financial plans for the year ahead are announced.
With the skeleton of the controversial Marischal Square project rising out the ground directly across the road, the Labour, Conservative, Independent alliance will have to make huge savings to plug a £26million funding cut from the Scottish Government.
Earlier this month, finance convener Willie Young said the administration had identified £20million of savings and cuts and that the “vast majority” would “not affect the man on the street”.
Council leader Jenny Laing also vowed that no council staff will be made redundant as the authority swings the axe.
But controversial plans such as an huge hike in parking fees and an increase in cremation charges haven’t been ruled out.
The Town House will fill from around 1.30pm for the crunch meeting that is expected to last for hours.
Heated scenes are widely expected as the administration clash with the opposition SNP and Liberal Democrat groups.
The SNP group – the major opposition to the administration – have kept tight lipped about their proposals.
Members of the public will be able to watch the proceedings from the public gallery on online through a web camera set up in the chambers.
