The top team tasked with overseeing the City Region Deal board will be appointed today.
A chairperson and vice-chairperson will be chosen to head up the board for the five to 10 year length of the investment.
Among the board members are Aberdeen City Council leader Jenny Laing, Aberdeenshire Council’s co-leaders Martin Kitts-Hayes and Richard Thomson and Opportunity North East (ONE) chief Sir Ian Wood.
The £250million joint deal from the Holyrood and Westminster governments was signed at the town house in Aberdeen on January 28.
But it is hoped that the total value could exceed £1.2billion when private sector investment is unlocked.
The agreement includes funding for an energy innovation centre and the expansion of Aberdeen harbour to help the city compete for oil and gas industry decommissioning work.
Last night Ms Laing said it was important that the board “got things moving” given the ongoing downturn in the region’s crucial oil and gas sector.
She said: “We had always planned to meet swiftly after the city deal announcement and this should be a big step forwards.
“We have already got the city deal at a more accelerated rate than other deals which is needed given the economic situation at the moment.
“It’s important that we get these projects moving for the people of the region.”
