More than 100 vehicles were stopped by the police on a busy north-east road this week as part of an ongoing effort to promote safe driving.
Officers targeted motorists on the A947 Aberdeen to Banff Road on Monday and Tuesday as part of Operation Cedar.
During that time, 11 drivers were spotted violating the speed limit, three were found using a mobile behind the wheel, three were not wearing seatbelts, two were driving without insurance and one man was arrested for driving while disqualified.
A further 30 vehicles were found to have defects such as no test certificate and faults with tyres, lighting and glass.
Inspector Jon Barron, of the divisional road policing, said: “Road safety is a priority for Police Scotland.
“Officers, supported by the safety camera unit, will continue to carry out high-profile activities like this right across the north-east in an effort to positively influence motorists and reduce the number of casualties.
“Unfortunately, as some still appear willing to ignore previous advice, I must repeat my plea to everyone – please take care and be responsible while using the roads.
“Don’t put others, or yourselves, at risk.”
