Police have recovered heroin and crack cocaine worth more than £100,000 in one of the biggest busts in the north-east in recent years.
The crack cocaine and heroin were found as part of the force’s ongoing Operation Banook, which was launched in October in response to local concerns about drug use, dealing and violence in the Peterhead and Fraserburgh areas.
A 33-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman are now expected to appear in Peterhead Sheriff Court later today.
The duo, both from the Peterhead area, were arrested on Friday.
Officers found £130,000 worth of drugs in the busts.
Between April and December 2015 the number of drug dealers caught doubled, while the number of people caught in possession of substances has also risen significantly.
Chief Inspector Elaine Logue, area commander for Aberdeenshire North said: “This operation continues to target all those who wish to involve themselves in drug activity and organised crime.
“We will continue in our efforts to make the north-east of Scotland a hostile place to deal controlled drugs, and to ensure there is nowhere to hide.”
