A north-east charity has today launched a new base in Banff, the town where it was formed.
Home-Start Deveron was established in 1999 and operates throughout Aberdeenshire, serving Aberchirder, Banff, Huntly, Macduff, Turriff and the surrounding areas.
It offers new families support with toy libraries, playgroups for babies and toddlers and storytelling sessions.
Parents also receive help with massage classes for babies, cooking lessons and financial guidance.
By opening the new base at 10 Carmelite Street, Banff, it is hoped the volunteers – many of whom are parents themselves – will continue to provide their invaluable services to the area.
Local MP Eilidh Whiteford last night offered her best wishes to the charity.
“I would like to offer my congratulations to Home-Start Deveron on securing their new premises,” she said.
“Organisations like Home-Start depend on volunteers who enjoy helping kids get a great start in life, and it was an absolute pleasure meeting with some of these remarkable individuals who give their time for such a great local cause.
“The group is always looking for volunteers, and I would encourage anyone who thinks they can help to come forward. It’s difficult to overstate just how valuable the group’s work is.”
All of the activities Home-Start provides are offered for free.
The charity’s long-term ambition is to see a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life.
