A “mindless” act of vandalism has caused around £50,000 worth of damage to an Aberdeen golf course.
The grounds of Auchmill Golf Course, on the city’s Bonnyview Road, were entered between 3pm on Wednesday and 6am yesterday.
As a result, the turf was damaged extensively by a vehicle driving over the course repeatedly.
Repairs have been estimated in the region of a five-figure sum, believed to be around £50,000.
Local area Inspector Andy Barclay said: “This mindless act has caused extensive damage and cost and an immeasurable amount of distress.
“In addition, it will have a significant impact on local residents and visitors to the area who make good use of the course.
“I would appeal for anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious between the hours of 3pm on Wednesday and 6am on Thursday, or anyone who has information, to contact the police as a matter of urgency.”
