Overnight works on the A90, costing over £280,000, are to commence today.
Two sections of the A90 near Stonehaven are set to benefit from the major resurfacing programme which get underway this evening.
The refurbishment scheme, into which £282,000 is being invested, will commence at 7.30pm until 6.30am and will last for six nights.
The first three nights will cover the northbound stretch of the A90 at Cowie, before work moves on to the southbound section of A90 at Newtonhill for a further three nights, which are scheduled to take place on Thursday 17, Friday 18 and Monday 21 February.
A convoy system will be used at both locations during the works to ensure the safety of the work force and the travelling public, but this will be removed outside of working hours.
Consultation has already taken place with local residents in advance of both resurfacing schemes to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Commenting on the improvements, Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s North-east representative, said: “These works will repair any defects at the two sections of the A90, improving the general condition and safety of the road for motorists.
“We have scheduled both sets of resurfacing works to take place overnight as well as avoiding working on Saturday and Sunday night to minimise disruption.
“However, we encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
