Robert Gordon University will celebrate World Social Work Day by staging a special event featuring a number of guest speakers.
Organisers from the university’s school of applied social studies have planned the free event today between noon and 2pm in the Sir Ian Wood Building.
Among the speakers are Dr Joe Morrow QC, president of the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland, RGU student social worker Hannah Hudson, and Graeme Simpson, the children’s services manager at Aberdeen City Council.
Janine Bolger, head of social work at RGU’s school of applied social studies, has worked with her colleagues to organise the seminar.
She said: “We are proud to celebrate World Social Work Day 2016 with a range of great speakers which I am sure will attract significant interest from staff, students and members of the public.”
There will be a second-hand book stall, funds from which will be donated to a collection for Aberdeen’s Syrian refugees. Donations of non-perishable food items can also be handed in on the day.
