A murder accused told a friend of his flatmate he had stabbed him next to his shoulder, a court has heard.
The comments were made during the trial of Kestutis Butkevicius, 44, at the High Court in Aberdeen.
Butkevicius denies murdering his flatmate Martynas Krasauskas at an address in Peterhead’s King Street on September 27 last year.
He also denies attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
Butkevicius has lodged a special defence of incrimination, blaming his former girlfriend Orinta Kalinauskaite.
Giving evidence was Audrius Sniurevicius, a friend of the deceased.
He told the court he was outside a friend’s house on the morning of September 27 when he saw Butkevicius and Ms Kalinauskaite.
He told the court Butkevicius said to him: “Help your best friend because I stabbed him, and if you want get into the car, but only you on your own.”
He was asked if anything was said in the car, and replied: “Yes I asked him where he stabbed him – ‘did you stab him in his tummy?’, and he said ‘no, next to his shoulder’.”
When asked why he got in the car Mr Sniurevicius said: “I could not believe that could have happened and also because I wanted to help, but I really could not believe that could have happened.”
However, later in his evidence advocate depute Shirley McKenna read part of a police statement he made in which he said: “Kestutis said that Martynas could be dead, although he did not say how.”
Mr Sniurevicius accepted he had said that to the police.
Also giving evidence was Myndaugas Smytras who told the court the accused and Ms Kalinauskaite came to his door on September 27.
The court heard in a police statement he said: “Kestutis told me that Martynas was badly injured.”
Mr Smytras agreed that was what he told the police.
The trial continues.
