Aberdeen City Council is seeking an eviction order after travellers set up camp in Seaton Park earlier this week.
As of last night, there were eleven caravans in the spot which was given an award by Beautiful Scotland last year.
A spokeswoman for Friends of Seaton Park said the travellers’ presence was disappointing.
She added: “The travellers came onto the park on Wednesday evening, I find it very upsetting and I don’t know when they will be gone.
“There’s always a huge mess before we can get places cleaned up when they leave.
“We put a lot of effort into the park. Last year, there were 2355 hours spent volunteering here and we are looking to be nominated for Scotland in Bloom and Britain in Bloom this year.”
A spokeswoman for Aberdeen City Council said: “We can confirm that there are travellers in Seaton Park and we are seeking an eviction order.”
