The family of Brian McKandie have released a touching tribute to the dearly beloved brother, uncle and friend.
Police are carrying out a murder investigation after Mr McKandie’s body was discovered in his home on the outskirts of Rothienorman, Aberdeenshire on Saturday.
It is believed the alarm was raised by a local, who could not get hold of the pensioner after he put his car in for repairs.
The family statement reads: “Brian was a dearly beloved brother of William, Margaret and the late Elizabeth, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many.
“He was a genial sort of chap with a dry sense of humour. He was hard-working and very dedicated to his business.
“We have been shocked by the recent events and would ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time.”
Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
