The funeral of a north-east teenager who lost her battle with cancer on her 19th birthday will take place next week.
Hanna Whyte was diagnosed with choroid plexus carcinoma, an aggressive cancer that presents itself as a fast-growing brain tumour, two months ago.
Miss Whyte had given herself the goal of reaching her 19th birthday on Thursday but sadly passed away later that day.
It is a double tragedy for the family as her two-year-old brother Corrie died of the same illness 15 years ago.
A funeral service will be held at St Cyrus Parish Church on Wednesday, May 21, at 2pm, and the family ask that mourners wear bright clothes.
Miss Whyte is survived by her mother Angela, father Billy and sister Samantha.
The Howe O’ the Mearns pipe band have organised a fundraising coffee morning and leg waxing event on May 24 so Mr and Mrs Whyte do not have to pay for a second child’s funeral. It will be held at Masonic Hall, Laurencekirk from 10am-1pm.
