Officers investigating the murder of an Aberdeenshire pensioner have questioned more than 700 motorists in the fortnight since the attack.
Brain McKandie was found dead at his home on March 12 after police believe he was “viciously attacked” with a weapon.
Despite a public appeal for information and a plea from Mr McKandie’s brother, no arrests have been made.
In the week following the death of the 65-year-old mechanic police issued an appeal for two men who were last seen outside the pensioner’s house on the Friday to come forward.
And now Detective Chief Inspector Iain Smith, who is leading the investigation, said they had spoken to hundreds of motorists since the alleged attack.
DCI Smith said: “It is now just over two weeks since when we understand Mr McKandie was attacked and officers spent much of last Friday speaking to people travelling in the area.
“Information was received from a number of people in terms of assisting us with our inquiries to identify people who may have been in contact with him before he died.
“This gives us potential fresh lines of enquiry to follow. We are still appealing for two sets of men who may have visited him on the Friday, March 11 to come forward as this may assist us.
“We have also requested that if anyone was driving on the B9001 between Rothienorman and Forgue on the Friday, and was using a dashboard camera, could they provide us with a copy of the footage from that part of their journey.
“Especially if they were driving through Badenscoth. If they could save it to a disk and hand it into their nearest police office.
“The information within the footage will potentially help us progress the inquiry forward.”
Anyone with any information is urged to contact the police on 101.
