A popular north-east family jeweller has raised £36,000 after completing a year of activities and events in support of two local causes.
Sinclairs in Inverurie set itself the task of raising funds to officially mark 40 years in business and selected Befriend a Child and CLAN Cancer Support as the beneficiaries.
At a celebratory event last Thursday at its premises in Inverurie, staff from the jewellers handed over cheques to both charities while paying tribute to all those who had helped it reach the impressive total.
A donation was also made to Bucksburn and District Rotary Club for its help throughout the campaign.
Ian Sinclair, owner of the shop, said: “We’ve had such a fantastic year celebrating our 40th year in business and to have achieved this fantastic total for what are two extremely worthy causes is the icing on the cake.
“Both charities have such a vital role to play here in the north-east and I couldn’t be more proud to be able to hand over donations that will hopefully play a part in helping both continue to make a difference to the lives of so many.
“It’s not every day that a local business celebrates its 40th anniversary and we will look back on the year with many fond memories.
“It’s fantastic that so many people have been able to share our milestone with us.”
Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said: “The entire Sinclairs team and loyal customers should be immensely proud of their achievements and we’re humbled to have been selected as a recipient of their generosity.
“To receive such a substantial donation is an incredible boost to all associated with the charity and will play a massive role in aiding our provision of free support services to anyone affected by cancer here in the north-east.
“We’re delighted to have been a part of what has been a special year for the business.”
Lana Bambridge, development and resources manager at Befriend a Child, said: “We have been incredibly touched by the efforts of the Sinclair team to support and raise awareness of Befriend a Child throughout our joint 40th anniversaries.”
