A teenage boy has been charged in connection with an alleged assault at Fraserburgh Academy.
Online footage of the alleged attack at the school emerged earlier this week, with teachers and council bosses describing it as “completely unacceptable behaviour”.
And yesterday, police confirmed a 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the incident.
It is understood officers were made aware of the assault and charged the alleged bully before the footage was “widely circulated”.
A police spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that a 15-year-old boy has been charged in relation to an assault at Fraserburgh Academy on March 30. He will be reported to the youth justice management unit.”
After the video emerged Aberdeenshire Council’s head of secondary education, Vincent Docherty, said: “Clearly the video shows completely unacceptable behaviour and this incident was appropriately dealt with at the time.
“Any form of violence within school grounds is treated very seriously and we will not tolerate this sort of behaviour.”
Last night a spokeswoman for Aberdeenshire Council said the incident is now a matter for the police.
The video, came to light only weeks on from footage of a girl punching and kicking two boys in the town’s Charlotte Street was shared online.
Police later charged a 15-year-old and 16-year-old in relation to the incident.
And last month, a teenager was charged after taking a serrated blade into Fraserburgh Academy.
