Aberdonians are being given a chance to own a piece of history from the Music Hall as the historic venue throws open its doors for an “everything must go” sale this weekend.
Decommissioning work on the £7 million transformation project for the Victoria-era concert hall officially began this week, and this Saturday and Sunday owners Aberdeen Performing Arts (APA) are selling off all of its remaining assets.
Furniture, utilities, collectibles, keepsakes and more will all be available for purchase from the city centre building’s 164 years of history.
A spokeswoman for APA said: “Drop in to the venue on Union Street this weeknd to browse everything from chars and tables to dressing room furniture.
“From everyday to the wonderful, everything must go, from filing cabinets to catering equipment and all things in between.
“Thrift sale fans can even get their hands on memorabilia from past shows and events.
“The sale will be held in the main hall on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 5pm.”
The final performance at the Music Hall was a ceilidh on Saturday April 2, and now the famous establishment will be closed for at least 20 months while refurbishment work takes place.
Included in the project are plans to improve the box office and reception, create better disabled access with a new, ramped entrance to the main doors from Union Street, as well as a new performance studio and creative learning space.
