A woman shouted racist remarks at a security guard after being caught stealing clothes and footwear from Primark.
Susan Kierel admitted stealing the items from the shop in Union Street, Aberdeen on January 11 this year.
The 35-year-old also admitted shouting and swearing at a security guard.
The court heard the incident happened after Kierel was asked to come back into the shop.
Police were called to attend, and on the way to the security office Kierel became uncooperative, which resulted in her being restrained.
“Whilst being restrained on the ground she was shouting and swearing,” Miss Souter said.
The court heard Kierel, who appeared from custody, had struggled with alcohol addiction and had been drinking heavily at the time.
Kierel, the court was told, wanted to apologise for her behaviour.
Sheriff Richard McFarlane said: “Drink has been a downfall and it has taken me some time to look closely at your record and it really makes rather gloomy reading. You have spent a fair amount of the last few years in prison.”
Kierel said she did not want to carry out community pay back orders and believed she only got help in prison.
Sheriff McFarlane sentenced her to five months in jail, which will run consecutively with her current term.
