Pupils at an Aberdeenshire school took a step in the right direction after joining their local rotary group for children under 12.
A group of 27 youngsters from Foveran School joined RotaKids at an inauguration ceremony held at the school.
The opportunity to join the scheme was inspired by teacher, Margaret Rattray, a member of Ellon Rotary.
RotaKids is a way for children to lead and engage in important, lively activities that will make a positive difference in their school and local community.
Alasdair Campbell of the rotarian group, said: “The children shared with their visitors some of the projects they are already involved in within the school and their plans for the future.
“One exciting project is to raise sufficient funds to purchase a Shelter Box and plans are afoot to raise awareness of this.
“All the youngsters received a wristband which states ‘RotaKids Make a Difference’, a very true statement.”
Eleanor Macalister, Ellon Rotary’s RotaKids co-ordinator said: “This was one of the best afternoons out we have had in a long time.
“The children were very inspirational and we can’t wait to learn about what they are going to be getting up to next.
“They have the full support of Ellon Rotary and we welcome them into the larger family of Rotary International.”
