A man was taken to hospital following a flat fire in Aberdeen city centre.
The fire and rescue service were alerted to the blaze, which had started in the bedroom of a third-floor property in Union Grove, at 6.15am.
Four appliances, from North Anderson Drive and Central, arrived at the scene a short time later.
Fifteen firefighters battled a “well-developed” blaze for more than two hours, and used breathing apparatus and a hosereel jet to get it under control.
The two occupants managed to escape before fire crews arrived, but suffered from smoke inhalation.
One man was subsequently taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a precaution.
Residents in neighbouring flats were not affected.
Crews left the scene at 8.30am.
