An Ellon councillor has made a fresh call for the road at one of the town’s business parks to be repaired.
Gillian Owen has long been campaigning to have the road surface improved at Balmacassie Business Park, which she claims is riddled with potholes.
Today she renewed her appeal to owners M Bruce and Partners for the road to be repaired.
He said: “I thought the worst of the holes would be filled in the last time I raised this issue.
“Ultimately the idea is that the council will adopt the roads up there, but a huge amount of work has to be done before that would even be contemplated.
“For a number of years now I have been complaining about the condition of the roads in Balmacassie, currently the roads are in a dreadful state, probably the worst that I have seen them.
“I am so frustrated about the continued state of the roads and paths around the Balmacassie Business Park.
“The site is home to a number of businesses all of whom deserve to be treated better than they are currently by M Bruce and Partners, the infrastructure should be fit for purpose and safe.”
In a letter from Aberdeenshire Council, officers responding to Mrs Owen’s concerns stated: “As you’re aware, the condition of the estate has been a recurring thorn in the council’s side for years.
“The council has had no previous or current responsibility for the maintenance of the estate roads.”
But frustrated Mrs Owen wants the council to take action, and then bill the owners for the work.
M Bruce and Partners could not be reached for comment.
