Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a flat in the centre of Peterhead.
The 39-year-old’s body was discovered in a property at the north end of the town’s King Street on Thursday.
Officers are treating his death as unexplained, but it is not thought to be suspicious.
The incident comes just months after Lithuanian fish worker Martynas Krasauskas was found dead in a flat directly across the road.
The 36-year-old’s flatmate was charged with his murder, but after a trial at the High Court in Aberdeen last month he walked free after the jury returned a not proven verdict.
Yesterday, police could be seen going in and out of the property on King Street and a narrow lane which provides access to a block of flats between Queen Street and Windmill Street was sealed off.
A police spokeswoman said: “We were made aware of the sudden death of a 39-year-old man in the King Street area of Peterhead at around 5.30pm on Thursday, April 14.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries to establish the full circumstances will be carried out.
“As is standard a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
She said the man’s next of kin had been notified, but that he still had to be formally identified.
