Council chiefs have warned Aberdeen motorists to expect further traffic delays as an annual programme of road improvements starts in the next few weeks.
The construction of major projects in the city is also likely to increase traffic congestion.
The resurfacing and surface work involves replacing worn areas of Aberdeen roads. It also includes starting to fill in potholes now the winter period is finished.
The resurfacing schemes, which start at the end of June, are spread out throughout the city and should only cause delays locally with diversions being in place.
Other refurbs being carried out include work on St Machar Drive as part of the £22.3million Third Don Crossing, around Tillydrone and Grandholm, and around the periphery of the city in conjunction with the £745million AWPR/B-T Balmedie-Tipperty project including Milltimber, Kingswells, Craibstone, and, in Aberdeenshire, between Blackdog and Balmedie.
The contractor of the AWPR/B-T is working closely with the funding partners to minimise delays wherever possible.
Transport and regeneration spokesman Ross Grant said: “We can totally understand why motorists get frustrated waiting while there are roadworks going on and particularly if they’re driving across the city and get caught in several sets of roadworks.
“We apologise for the delays, but, unfortunately, these large infrastructure projects and ensuring regular maintenance of our roads will mean potential disruption in the short term.”
